Shelley Osborne

Shelley Osborne leads learning and organizational development for the 4,000 technologists at Airbnb. She started as a classroom teacher in Canada. Teaching Spanish taught her early that knowing something and being able to use it are completely different things. She's focused her career on solving that challenge: leading L&D at Udemy, building and leading learning teams from the ground up at Modal and Airbnb, writing The Upskilling Imperative (McGraw-Hill), teaching 500K+ students on Udemy, and now leading the team developing the engineers and technologists at Airbnb.

Today she builds custom simulations, game-based experiences, immersive experiential learning programs, virtual and augmented reality experiences, and social learning communities, all aimed at upskilling technical and leadership talent at scale. She creates learning experiences for both technical education and leadership development. The through line is always the same: learning that is too engaging to ignore and too practical to forget.

She speaks regularly at companies and industry events and has taken the stage at TEDWomen, ATD, DevLearn, and Unleash. Her work has been featured in Fast Company, Entrepreneur, WSJ, and CNBC.
